In the world of Ham Radio, the name RigExpert has become synonymous with antenna analyzers that expertly perform a range of critical functions while defining the expression, “Great things come in small packages.”
How small? Let’s take a close look at the company’s new simple-to-use and easy-to-read RigExpert Stick 230 Antenna Analyzer. Weighing only 6.5 ounces and measuring 7.3″ x 1.3″ x 1.6″, this powerful pocket-size tool fits just about anywhere, making it a perfect companion whether you’re climbing a tower or operating from your backyard, an island, or a park on Field Day.
The ultra-compact RigExpert Stick 230 won’t weigh down your go-kit on emergency ops or add extra heft to a backpack on summit adventures, either. Just slide it in your shirt pocket, loop it around your neck, or attach it to your belt with the optional RigExpert Stick 230 belt holder and you’re good to go.
Of course the real measure of an antenna analyzer is how it performs—and the RigExpert Stick 230 delivers in a big way for many uses. These include rapidly checking an antenna’s SWR and resonance; tuning an antenna to resonance with complex impedance results displayed graphically and numerically; and measuring capacitance or inductance of reactive loads, including coils and capacitors.
Features of the RigExpert Stick 230 include:
- Ability to test antenna systems, cables, filters, and more across the frequency range of 100 kHz through 230 MHz with a 100-point adjustable sweep width as narrow as 10 kHz
- Superior readability in direct sunlight thanks to the device’s high-contrast 200 x 200 pixel E-Ink display
- 16-hour operating time (on a single charge) when in continuous use
- Consistency and accuracy without need for pre-calibration
- Intuitive selection of four display modes: SWR, return loss, R, X, Z, L, C, Magnitude and Phase Angle at Single Frequency; SWR Chart at Fixed HAM Bands by IARU Regions, 100 Points; Multi-Mode (quick check of multiband antennas); and SWR Chart, 100 Points
- Provided lithium-ion 18650 battery, fully rechargeable in just three hours via USB Type-C port
- Splash- and dust-proof case; waterproof keypad
- English menus and help screens
- Two-year RigExpertCare™ warranty that provides owners with a full replacement of the device
In addition, every amateur band in the frequency range is a pre-programmed selection on the RigExpert Stick 230. You can also select any center frequency with any sweep width to be analyzed. Complete sweep data may be sent by USB Type-C to a laptop running downloadable AntScope2 software, or via internal Bluetooth capability or USB-C cable to the tablet or smartphone device running the AntScope app for Android or iOS. A standard SO-239/UHF female connector at the top of the unit is protected by a removable cover.
The RigExpert Stick 230 is available in blue (REU-STICK-230) or khaki (REU-STICK-230-K). USB cable and neck strap are included.

What do hams say about the RigExpert Stick 230?
Five Stars: “Great piece of equipment for QRP portable or using at home! I use it with my Elecraft K2 when QRP portable. I use it with my Icom IC-7300 when home. I love how I can use it standalone with the little e-paper display that doesn’t use much power and is easy to read under many different lighting conditions.”
