DX Engineering recently elevated its sponsorship of the 2026 World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) to Gold status, showing its ongoing commitment to an event that shines a bright spotlight on the very best in amateur radio. The quadrennial contest, featuring the top contesters from around the world, is scheduled for July 2026 in the United Kingdom.
This will mark the tenth WRTC, which was first held in Seattle in 1990.
From the WRTC 2026 Facebook page: “DX Engineering is a solid supporter of the WRTC program, and we have been working closely with their representatives to develop maturing plans for the UK event…We look forward to further working with the company as we move towards 2026 and beyond!”
Of particular importance to DX Engineering is the work WRTC 2026 officials are putting in to involve young operators in the event, commonly referred to as the “Olympics of Amateur Radio.”
“Having competed in several WRTCs myself, I have been amazed at the elite skills of the youth teams who have excelled and represented the future of amateur radio so well.
“We all look forward to hearing them compete again on the airwaves in 2026. DX Engineering is proud to support everyone involved in making such a complex and important event in the amateur radio community a success.”
Tim Duffy, K3LR, DX Engineering CEO
For WRTC 2026, 50 two-operator teams representing countries that span the globe, including several featuring youth operators, will compete from comparable stations set up in England’s East Anglia area—specifically Suffolk, Norfolk, and Cambridgeshire counties—during the 24-hour IARU Contest. To qualify for WRTC 2026, teams must rank highly in a series of amateur radio contests held between October 2023 and March 2025. With the event less than two years away, organizers are reaching out to hams everywhere asking for their support:
From the WRTC website: “We are so fortunate to be holding this event in the UK and this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If you or your club can help as a volunteer, please get in touch.”
Visit the WRTC UK 2026 website for up-to-date information and details on how you can get involved.
