Cushcraft Antennas Still Available at DX Engineering

While the news in May 2024 that MFJ would be ceasing production of its large catalog of ham products rocked the amateur radio community, there’s some good news. DX Engineering still has in stock a range of MFJ products, including equipment from Ameritron, Hy-Gain, and Cushcraft, all highly respected brands owned and manufactured by MFJ.

After publishing a recent review of the Cushcraft HV-4E Four-Band Low-Profile Vertical Antenna, OnAllBands thought it would be appropriate to highlight some of the other MFJ products still available at DX Engineering.

In part one of this series, we’re highlighting Cushcraft antennas. As of this posting, there are more than 30 Cushcraft products at DXEngineering.com. In addition to the HV-4E, here are a few (please check website for availability):

10M Ringo AR10 Vertical Antenna: The 17.6-foot, 1,000W power-rated AR10 combines compact size, wide bandwidth, low radiation angle, and budget-friendliness to make a great choice for 10M activity. The antenna can be tuned to cover any 800 kHz of the 10M band from 28 to 29.7 MHz with a maximum 2:1 SWR. Typical SWR from 28 to 28.8 MHz is less than 1.5:1. Also available is the Cushcraft FM Ringo 6M AR6.

HF Beam MA5B Antenna: This five-band Yagi (20/17/15/12/10M) boasts a big signal with a small footprint. It features a power rating of 1.2kW PEP, 600W CW, and 350W FM/RTTY and high front-to-back ratios on 20/15/10M.

2M Broadband A13B2 Boomer Beam Antenna: A good choice for high performance across the entire 2 meter band, this antenna delivers 15.8 dBi of gain on FM, packet, CW, or even on sideband across the entire 4 MHz operating range. The 2,000W power-rated, 13-element A13B2 easily mounts vertically or horizontally for maximum performance on your favorite mode. Its 15-foot boom length makes it ideal for fitting just about anywhere.

R9 Nine-Band Vertical Antenna: This 80-6M antenna handles a full 1,500W PEP and up to 500W CW. Requiring no RF ground system or network of radials, the 31.5-foot R9 was called by one customer “the best, bar none, vertical I have ever owned,” helping him get his DXCC and WAS in five months. Although a resonant antenna, a tuner is recommended to permit full frequency agility without transmitter power fold back.

HF Beam Three-Band A3S Antenna: This ruggedly built 20/15/10 Yagi features pinned boom sections, heavy-duty element clamps with backing plates, and a 14-foot boom perfect for DXing or contesting when space is at a premium. The A3S, an upgraded version of the A3 model, includes all stainless steel hardware.

“The 2:1 SWR bandwidth was better than stated and did not exceed 2.3:1 anywhere on any band. On-air performance has been great,” wrote one customer. “Completely satisfied with purchase, assembly, and performance.”
