The Radio Club of America (RCA) announced that DX Engineering and CEO Tim Duffy, K3LR, are the recipients of the 2023 RCA Business Award.
From its website, the RCA noted that the award “recognizes an entrepreneurial business that produces a product for the wireless industry or provides a service to the wireless industry.” The 2023 award was given to honor DX Engineering’s and K3LR’s “many contributions made to both the Radio Club of America and the wireless industry.”
Among his many achievements since earning his amateur radio license in 1972, K3LR is a past president of the RCA (2016-18), an inductee into the CQ Contest Hall of Fame, a five-time participant in the World Radio Team Championship, and 2015 Dayton Hamvention Amateur of the Year. As CEO of DX Engineering, he helms a company that has been a trusted provider of amateur radio equipment, as well as dedicated supporter of the ham radio community, since 2000.
Founded in 1909, the RCA “brings under one umbrella professionals from every segment of the wireless industry, including antennas, broadband, broadcasting, cellular, consumer, distribution, education, legal/regulatory, manufacturing, marketing/sales, microwave, military, patents, public safety, satellites, semiconductors, transportation, and towers. As a result, synergistic relationships are created across industry lines,” per its website. The group’s mission is “the promotion of cooperation among those interested in scientific investigation in the art of Radio Communication.”
Two other hams were recognized by the RCA for their radio-related accomplishments: Icom’s Ray Novak, N9JA, received the club’s Special Service Award, and Ruth Willet, KM4LAO, was named the first recipient of the RCA’s Carole Perry Young Professional Award.
