The Republic of Fiji QRV in May
Nobby, G0VJG was active from Fiji, an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, as 3D2AS from May 3-5. If you didn’t make contact then, you have another chance; he is scheduled to be QRV again from Fiji May 20-22 on SSB and FT8 40-10 meters, operating a hexbeam antenna. The Republic of Fiji—1,100 nautical miles northeast of New Zealand‘s North Island—ranked as the 137th most wanted DXCC entity as of April.
Bob W5OV, DX Engineering sales manager and member of the DXCC Honor Roll, made a QSO with the 3D2VV Fiji Island DXpedition back in 1988. He contacted them on 40M CW—one of 15,000 QSOs logged during the DXpedition, which faced huge pileups from Europe.
Tom KB8UUZ, DX Engineering technical writer, worked Fred 3D2XB on 10M SSB during the 2012 Fiji Island DXpedition from the Viti Levu Island and Lighthouse. Viti Levu is the largest island in the Republic of Fiji and home to its capital, Suva.
Mark Ludwick, W8BBQ, DX Engineering customer/technical support specialist, scored this QSL card from the 3D2MP 2010 Fiji Island DXpedition on 20M SSB.
