With Hamvention 2019 (May 17-19) only a week away, we thought it appropriate to make this annual celebration of everything Amateur Radio our Word of the Day. For Hams from around the world, Hamvention—which began in Dayton, Ohio, in 1952 and is now held at the Greene County Fairgrounds and Expo Center in Xenia, Ohio—means a myriad of different things depending on who you talk to.
For some, it’s a chance to get great deals on absolutely anything you need for your shack, from transceivers to antenna analyzers. Many attendees gravitate to the flea market for an opportunity to score a hard-to-find part or old radio to add to their overflowing collections. Others view it as a homecoming, where Hams get to visit with on-air friends they may only see once a year. Then there are those who embrace Hamvention as a learning laboratory by gathering information from the numerous forums and by talking one-on-one with Amateur Radio manufacturers.
No matter what inspires you, DX Engineering hopes you stop by our booth right inside Building 1’s main door in our familiar spot. For complete details on what you can expect at Hamvention 2019, visit the event’s official website.
