On the heels of the release of Icom’s IC-705 portable transceiver comes news of another Icom rig that will surely rocket to the top of many Ham’s must-have lists.
Now available for reservation from DX Engineering, the ID-52A VHF/UHF Dual-Band D-STAR (Digital Smart Technologies for Amateur Radio) Digital Transceiver has been built with several significant upgrades over the ID-51A HT model, including:
- Larger 2.3″ transflective color display that is easy to see even in bright sunlight
- Bluetoothcommunication as standard (optional VS-3 Bluetoothheadset is also available for hands-free operation)
- Simultaneous reception in V/V, U/U, V/U as well as DV/DV
- Air band reception is expanded from VHF to UHF (225 to 374.995 MHz)
- The ability to be charged via micro USB connector
- Increased audio output from 400 mW to 750 mW
- The latest D-STAR functions that enable you to send, receive, and view saved photos on an installed micro SD card using only the ID-52A
